Eroding Local Control & The Influence and Climate Essay

Eroding Local Control & The Influence and Climate - Essay Example However, schools can perform best under instances where they undertake the responsibilities on their own without government intervention. The state should provide the resources that are necessary for the running of a school and leave the other responsibilities to the management. At times, the state education departments emerge as sluggish bureaucracies who have goals which are contradictory and not adaptable to the diverse local contexts (Brimley and Garfield, 2008, p. 73). This makes the state control over education less effective, and thus people do not prefer them. For a school to run in an efficient manner there should be various departments that should ensure that the school runs properly as the management intends. The administration of a school should incorporate various administrators and supervisory personnel who should oversee that all the operations of the schools are running smoothly. The administrative units in a school should entirely depend on the subjects that the school offers. There should be a department that deals with issues regarding the administration of students. This will ensure that all matters concerning admission and maintenance of students’ records are successful. The management should also set a department to deal with an examination in the school. The administration can assess the performance of students through offering examination in the school. There should be a department for the school of science and another for the school of arts. These will ensure that the departments represented in an effective manner a ll students who take science and art courses in the school. The department will cater for the requirement of the courses which are certainly vital to the success of the course. This is an indispensable department that the administration should ensure that it is efficient for students to succeed in their studies (Brimley and Garfield, 2008, p. 81). The management should also establish a department to deal with the employees of the school.

The Retirement of Terry Leahy's from Tesco Case Study - 1

The Retirement of Terry Leahy's from Tesco - Case Study Example The departure of a chief executive from any company attracts huge expectations in as far as changes in management are concerned as suggested by Toni and Tonchia (p947). The change can positive or even unsetting one depending on the leaving chief executive influence. The retired chief executive officer of Tesco spent his career developing the organization to be the biggest grocer in Britain. However, his successor Phillip Clarke will face the challenge of either maintaining the position or breaking the company. The retailer has a wide range of products ranging from food to furniture as well as mortgages and motor scooters. It has several outlets including its headquarters in Cheshunt and its branches in China. Tesco customers include buyers of high-quality goods and low-cost goods while stores range from mega-stores to corner shops. One of the major changes that have been encountered by the retailer since the retirement of Leahy is financial management. Since the set up of a joint ven ture with Royal bank which was done Leahy’s predecessor, Tesco has been offering financial services. According to Anon (69), this section has rapidly grown offering services such as loans, insurance, and credit cards. One of the financial changes includes the now fully owned Tesco Bank which is aiming at becoming a great competitor to other banks. So far Tesco is selling its financial products to almost six million customers. Last year, the retailer launched a range of mortgages and savings account while in the current year Tesco is planning to launch a current account. The retail organization also intends to capitalize the discontent of customers through their current jobs. A focus by Liz Hartley who is principal consultant indicates that Tesco Bank will be among the top ten best banks in the country within the next five years. However, the growth of the bank is likely to cause more changes in the organization since banks are valued in a very different way compared to a retailer.

Leda and the Swan Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Leda and the Swan - Essay Example The basic story of the events as per Greek mythology describes the events which led to the conception of Helen and other children, the event mentioned in the story are violent perhaps because beauty is often born from past violence. Leda was married to the king of Sparta i.e. Tyndareus and Zeus took the form of a giant swan to mate with Leda on the same night as she had sex with her husband (Beyst, 2002). Intertextual analysis can show us quite clearly that the artists who covered this particular theme gave their own focus to the images regardless of the media being sculpture, painting or as per Yeats, poetry. Essentially, the poem and other artistic mediums which are based on this motif are presenting a loving couple which is entwined with each other. Sensibilities in art often prevent a complete visual description of a sexual act therefore there are certain aspects which are not shown. For example, Michelangelo’s Leda has her privates covered with the tail feathers of the swan while da Vinci’s Leda seems to be more or less hugging a giant swan rather than engaging in any sexual act (Beyst, 2002). On the other hand, the images presented by Yeats quite clearly describe the sexual act and if a person who is familiar with the background story reads this poem, s/he can clearly know where the point of climax comes within the poem along with the orgasm of the characters. In fact, Yeats words have a certain power which can not be felt in paintings because of a difference in medium. For example, it is rather difficult to empathise with Leda if one simply views the painting but upon reading the poem a person can place themselves in Leda’s position and experience what she felt (Beyst, 2002).

Erick Erickson on Education Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Erick Erickson on Education - Research Paper Example The formation of early childhood education was in the mid 1800s when there was the development of the private kindergarten in homes. A comprehensive study into the cognitive development of the child started in the early 1900s when various scholars such as Sigmund Freud and Jean Piaget defined the stages of development (Coles, 2000). This research paper examines the contributions of Erick Erickson towards the development of early childhood education. Erickson’s contributions are in the three first stages in psychosocial development. The philosophy of Erickson to early childhood development is that the world seems to grow larger as the children grow and that the failure has affected their lives greatly (Roazen, 1993). According to Erickson, development is because of their biological self-combined with their self-psychology as well as the influence of culture (Friedman, 1998). The first stage focuses on trust and mistrust of the child. The child establishes this character between the times of birth to one year of age. At this time, the infant struggles to develop trust in the world. The children learn how to trust when parents and teachers nurture and make them become reliable and responsible (Friedman, 1998). The second stage is between 18 months to three years. The children learn how to master skills for themselves. They do not only learn how to talk, feed and, walk but they also undergo toilet training. The desire of the child to discover new things in life increases (Schickendanz, 2001). The children build self-esteem and autonomy as well as gaining more control over their bodies and acquire new skills and they are able to differentiate wrong from right. However, this is a very vulnerable stage. For example, if the child fails to understand the independent and dependent needs then the child will experience feelings of doubt and shame (Coles, 2000). At stage three, that is between three to six years old,

Comparing the Logistics Hubs of Worldwide Markets Research Paper

Comparing the Logistics Hubs of Worldwide Markets - Research Paper Example The potential for logistic hubs are studied, gaps in the logistic system are identified and recommended measures are suggested. The various trend and innovations in the logistics industry are considered in this report and suitable recommendation is given as to the strategies that the logistic hubs should take up to maintain their position in the fast-evolving logistics industry. Keywords The following keywords are used: logistics management, globalization, logistic hubs, logistics technologies, outsourcing. Introduction The advent of globalization, innovations in technology, mergers and acquisitions, consolidations and the boom of outsourcing have led to a huge growth in the logistics industry throughout the world. The logistics service providers are designing and implementing new services and capabilities to meet the new demands and expectations of the customers. With the evolution of a sophisticated logistics framework, the major logistics hubs in countries like Singapore, Hong Kon g, and New York are focusing on strategic approaches based on information rather than on the goods oriented commoditized approach. The customers are looking for all the services integrated into one point so as to avoid the complexities of involving a number of parties across the supply chain process. A single point of contact is preferred in today’s logistics market. The logistics market all around the globe has started adopting new models and new technologies to address the changing requirements of the market. The models are based on the levels of assets, collaborations, Information technology capabilities, and the scope of the services offered across the supply chain. The logistics model has evolved to a specialized function to fourth party logistics and Fifth party logistics. The third party logistics model has added capabilities and integration of the different operations in their model. The first party logistics and the second party logistics handle the storage of the as sets. Thus, they have higher asset intensity levels and lower barriers to entry. The fourth party logistics is an integrating model that puts together all the capabilities, resources and technologies to design and implement an enhanced supply chain service. The factors that create the highest opportunity for the logistics service providers are as follows: management of complex supply chains, comparatively high-value products, increased spending on logistics processes, decentralized logistics management, time sensitivity of the supply chain process and logistics management across multiple modes. The status of the logistics industry has considerably improved over the last few years. This improvement has been done due to the proper recognition of the following factors impacting the industry: High level of competition for both the users and the service providers which drives the continuous improvement in the operations. Increase in logistics opportunities and costs driving huge savings. Innovation in operational processes such as total quality management (TQM), just in time (JIT), time compression, flexible processes etc. (Carlson, 1989, p. 315). Growing need for adopting new technologies in order to identify and track goods.

Assessments Package Essay Example for Free

Assessments Package Essay The paper is based upon the self assessment online training. Throughout I will explain what changes the exercise has done to the view I had prior and the view I have after. Although in I think that becoming a case manager is a hard job and requires specific personality traits. I will write about the position of a case manager and what roles and duties the job requires. I will discuss the viewpoints on ethical principles, professional responsibilities, how my viewpoints had changed after the online training, and the self-awareness I have gained that could prepare myself for a case management role. View Changes on Ethical Principles The ethical obligations of the privacy for consumers and his or her protection of their health information are to be upheld at all times. The ethical principles within health care organizations are based upon the accountability of professionalism. However, the protection differs from the type of organization for example, state programs require state laws to be accommodated and followed. The programs in which state covers is alcohol and drug abuse programs, Medicare, and other accreditation programs that are applicable to federal laws. Therefore, the ethical principles in my opinion are held high as the guidelines are to be followed by all organizations in order to function properly and to provide the proper care to the clients. Privacy is extremely important as no person would want his or her medical conditions and concerns placed into public hands. View Changes on Professional Responsibilities The workforce training required for upholding privacy and security of health information proved to me that it is seldom to be professional in this type of work field. The awareness or degree of the security and privacy for patient’s health information varies from how to use or share health information, parameters, job position influences, the leadership interpretation, and implementing costs. The professionalism of the HIPPA security and privacy requires the formal education and proper training to ensure that the person entering this type of workforce can have ongoing accountability for the security and privacy to protect health information. The standards for HIPPA’s security and privacy rules address specific training requirements so professionalism responsibility is an absolute after receiving proper training. The requirements for the high-level training are crucial because of the cost and ongoing requirements and responsibilities of the workers. The professional responsibilities of the job demands ongoing training in which the workers are constantly up-to-date with documentations and responsibilities required by each person. The viewpoints of professional responsibilities after completing the online assessment has changed based upon the amount of responsibility the workers must obtain. The responsibility to make sure no health information is leaked through the system (documents, computers, corrupt employees) is extremely important, therefore the information shared among people is to be protected. Although I believe that health care information is not an item in which thieves’ want to possess. Health care information is in my opinion pointless to steal, as people really should not care who has certain medical conditions wrong with them. The workers job to me seems like a security job with the use of a computer in regard to health records, I often picture a security guard standing in front of a medical filling room. Self-Awareness Becoming self-aware of the case management role prepares me to comprehend the responsibilities, duties, and importance of health care information. The case management role is an important role as the information obtained by the case worker is personal should be guarded or protected, and secured. I am aware of the responsibility the case managers has daily and what his or her job title requires. However, I do not have plans or goals to become a case manager or to have that type of role in a job. I like helping people, whereas, I do not like to sit still and stare at a computers or paper work as a career. In the end, I have obtained information in which case manager’s jobs require extreme security, privacy, and professionalism. The case management role is only for certain people who can handle that type of job. Becoming a case manager is not a random choice a person picks for a career. For me, it is nice to obtain information in regard to the role of a case manager and realized how important case manager’s jobs are and what his or her daily duties require.
